Nickel-chromium Battery Features

2022/09/14

Unlike lead-acid batteries, nickel-chromium batteries can be installed next to electronic equipment because hydrogen and oxygen are present during electrolysis without corrosive gases. And the water consumption is very small, generally no maintenance. The normal life span is 20-25 years. Far more expensive than the aforementioned batteries. Initial installation costs about three times as much as lead-acid batteries. The battery life is not affected by the high ambient temperature, and the battery capacity is not affected by the low ambient temperature. Generally, the voltage of each battery is 1.2V. Due to the application of this kind of battery, the UpS needs to design a higher charger voltage. Advantages and Disadvantages:

Open lead-acid battery:

Advantages: Less investment, longer life than maintenance-free batteries, lower temperature requirements.

Disadvantages: Maintenance is more complex, needs a special battery room, corrosive gas discharge, must be on-site initial charging 50-90 hours, needs special maintenance.

Maintenance free battery:

Advantages: no need to add liquid maintenance, can be transported in full state, no need for maintenance.

Disadvantages: Not timely recovery charging will damage the battery, temperature sensitive, short life, more expensive than lead-acid batteries.

Nickel chromium battery:

Advantages: Low maintenance requirements, long service life, temperature insensitive, no harmful gas emissions.

Disadvantages: Most expensive of the three.
